Mercedes took control once again in practice as it was Nico Rosberg’s turn to come through as he posted the fastest time in P2, hours after his team-mate Lewis Hamilton did the same in P1.

In the season opener two weeks ago it was Nico Rosberg who finished on top ahed of Kevin Magnussen and Jensen Button of McLaren. Rosberg found himself in a similar position during practice two in Sepang earlier this morning as he finished quickest ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in second and Sebastian Vettel in third – who had a poor opening weekend after retiring after just five laps.

However Australian GP winner Rosberg posted a time of 1:39:909 which was just over a tenth quicker than his Mercedes teammate Hamilton but pipped Ferrari’s Raikkonen to the top sport by 0.035. Raikkonen has been unhappy for many weeks now with the set up of his F14 T complaining that he was beaten in every session at Melbourne by Alonso but after a fast lap from the former Lotus’ driver he shown signs of a possible break through from his Ferrari car.

Vettel had shown that some of their problems in winter testing is behind them after he finished third fastest with a time of 1:39:970 on the option compound. Team boss Christian Horner claimed that the RB10 was “about eight tenths to a second slower down the straights.” Lewis Hamilton who claimed pole in Melbourne two weeks ago posted the fastest time in P1, but could only manage fourth in P2.

Hamilton will be looking to improve on what happened last time out after his W05 car retired after five laps whilst his team-mate Rosberg will be looking for a 100% start to the season.

My Prediction for Sepang:

Winner: Lewis Hamilton
Pole position: Lewis Hamilton
Fastest lap: Lewis Hamilton
Surprise driver: Kevin Magnussen

Enjoy the race!
